The Disney Parks advertising retrospective is back!  In the last installment, we watched some very old ads and made it just into the 1990s.  This time, we’ll be looking at the 1990s.

The first advertisment is from the early 1990s and features a song about Walt Disney World being a “Summer Sensation”.  It’s a definite push for families to visit during the summer months.  It again features Mickey Mouse on top of Spaceship Earth (a sight I miss dearly).

This next one is also an early 90s advertisement to the tune of “Be Our Guest”, but it’s very generic.  It includes clips from Star Tours and Splash Mountain; both would have been fairly new at this time.

Around 1994, Disney released a series of advertisements; each had its own title.  My favorite of these is the “Voice of Experience”, where the older brother tells his younger brother all about Walt Disney World.

A second in this series is called “Roughing It” and really makes an appeal to adults instead of families with children.  Fans of the television show House will recognize Peter Jacobson (Dr. Chris Taub)

A third installment (one of the later ones I believe) is called “Anticipation” and features the line “I’m too excited to sleep!”  It’s definitely another family-oriented commercial.

The last advertisement I’d like to highlight in this installment probably didn’t seem like an ad to those who watched it.  In 1990, The Muppets at Walt Disney World premiered on NBC, and although it’s an hour-long show with a storyline and good songs, it was an ad for the upcoming merger of Disney and The Jim Henson Company.  The merger didn’t go through, but the show was still good advertising for Walt Disney World.  Also, The Muppets at Walt Disney World was Jim Henson’s last project before his death.  The following videos (seven total) are the complete show including the introduction by Michael Eisner.

That’ll do it for this segment of Disney Parks advertising through the years.  Next time I’ll move closer to the present day.  If there are any ads you’d like me to feature (from any time in Disney Parks history), please send me an email or a tweet or leave a comment below!

Actually the Merger fell through in 1990 due to Jim Henson’s Death. The Merger was redone and the Muppets became part of the Walt Disney in 2004 when the rights were finally sold to disney
