The Location Has Been Chosen photo

After much deliberation, it looks like we’re targeting a June 2012 trip to Disneyland.  All the news from the past week regarding the Fantasyland expansion actually spurred this decision.  Half of Fantasyland would be under construction for a Fall 2012 first phase opening, and we didn’t want to deal with that.

With the location targeted, I started looking into hotel prices.  Unfortunately, most hotels only let you book a year in advance, so I’m currently using pricing for June 2011 rather than June 2012.  Last time we stayed at the Howard Johnson on Harbor Blvd., about a block down Harbor from the Disneyland plaza entrance.  It was a nice short walk and the hotel itself was decent.  I also took a look at a few other hotels on Harbor, including the Camelot (where Deanna stayed on her last trip “out west”), the Candy Cane Inn, and the Best Western Park Place.  All of these hotels are practically next door to each other.

While researching, I found a code from MouseSavers for the Howard Johnson.  With the code, here are the rates for June 2011:

  • Howard Johnson: $101.15
  • Camelot: $111.75
  • Candy Cane Inn: $139.00
  • Best Western Park Place (and the other Best Westerns nearby): $129.00

As of right now, I think we’ll be staying at the Howard Johnson; it was a decent hotel and now has a big pool area.  No breakfast included at the HoJo though; the others have various breakfasts included.  However, I’m fairly sure we won’t be eating breakfast at the hotel every morning (Main Street Bakery cinnamon rolls anyone?).

We still have many decision to make including what else we might want to do in addition to Disneyland.  Last time we went, we had the Southern California CityPass and went to Sea World San Diego, the San Diego Zoo, and Universal Studios Hollywood.  Should we be looking at Legoland and/or Knott’s Berry Farm this time?
